Are you pregnant and considering adoption?
Carrying a child for nine months and then placing that child for adoption brings with it complicated emotions. Pregnancy has its own health concerns and financial burdens. You deserve to be treated with respect and cared for during and after your pregnancy, and to have those concerns and burdens lessened. We work with a state-wide team of social workers who will provide counseling and support to you throughout this time.
Elizabeth F. Schwartz has 25 years’ experience handling family formation and is certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in adoption law. She works with families of all stripes - single, couple, gay or straight, in Florida and throughout the country.
To find out more, please reach out to us to be set up with a nearby social worker who can assess your financial needs, be sure you are getting proper medical attention, and talk about options for you to choose an adoptive family.
Financial assistance
Florida law permits assistance payments during your pregnancy and up to six weeks after giving birth, such as medical costs, counseling, rent, and other living expenses (including relocation in the event of an unsafe living situation).
Finding the right family
We maintain a small but mighty queue of wonderful families who put together beautiful profiles to give you a sense of who they are and what kind of life a child would enjoy with them.
Open, Semi-Open or Closed Adoptions
Your wishes and comfort level regarding contact with the adoptive family – during the pregnancy and during the child’s life – will be respected, and we can create a written agreement if you’d like to receive photos, calls, or visits in the future.
Rights of the father
The biological father’s rights depend on factors such as whether you are married (to him or to someone else); whether there's been abandonment or he has been supporting you during the pregnancy; and whether he has asserted his rights in writing. If you are afraid of him, please be sure you relay that fear and appropriate steps will be taken to protect you and your adoption plan.
